Brian C. Fetzer is co-chair of Johnson & Bell's Health Care group. He concentrates his practice on health care law and product liability. Mr. Fetzer has extensive experience in civil trials and has tried jury cases to verdict in both state and federal court. He has frequently lectured on tort civil practice and trial strategy issues for a number of associations and has also written for various journals. Mr. Fetzer has been named one of the Top 20 Defense Lawyers in Chicago by Chicago Lawyer magazine and was honored with the Trial Lawyers Excellence Award in 2010 by the Jury Verdict Reporter. His success as a trial attorney has been recognized by his peers who have honored him with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Fetzer is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois. His memberships also include the Chicago and Illinois State Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, the Trial Lawyers Club of Chicago (Past President), the Society of Trial Lawyers, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Illinois Defense Trial Counsel (Board of Directors 1981-1984), and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Mr. Fetzer is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers as well as the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and recently, he was selected as one of Chicago's 2012 Best Lawyers.   1. Author of the initial Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Handbook on Hospital Law & Medical Liability in 1987, writing the chapter on Contribution and Settlement.
  2. Speaker at the International Association of Defense Counsel mid-winter meeting in February 1992 on the subject of defending a claim of failing to diagnose breast cancer.
  3. Vice Chair and Editor of Newsletters for the Product Liability Committee of the International Association of Defense Counsel.
